Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 55
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 55
トニカクカワイイ 55
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
Nasa reveals his amusement park tickets to Tsukasa. Since this is the park in Maihama, she becomes very excited. They decide to go the following day. Despite her excitement, Tsukasa manages to fall asleep right away.
The following day, it is raining in Maihama. Nasa is relieved that Tsukasa’s spirits aren’t dampened by this. Instead of getting an umbrella at the park, Tsukasa buys a parka that Nasa finds cute. Tsukasa decides she wants to ride the Kerenagure Mansion ride, which features an abandoned mansion that came from Nerima. Nasa is a bit worried, but is happy to see Tsukasa really enjoying herself.
They go to the next attraction with a popular sci-fi movie as its theme. After the ride is done, Nasa fears Tsukasa wasn’t happy with it. However, she wants to ride it a second time. Before they can get back in line for a second go, Nasa’s former teacher shows up.
Thoughts/Review:
There are a ton of references in Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 55. That and the standard amusement park date scenario made this a fun chapter.
The Amusement Park Date
Although the amusement park date is somewhat of a cliche in manga titles, it was still fun to see in Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 55. I got a kick out of Tsukasa’s excitement prior to going to the amusement park as well as after arriving there. I only wish I could fall asleep as fast as she did when I’m that excited. 😅
It is interesting that Hata-sensei made it a rainy day at the amusement park. The chapter title suggests that Hata-sensei went to the actual amusement part in Maihama, which is almost certainly Tokyo Disneyland. And he further indicates that he went alone and on a day when it was raining. So I guess that influenced his decision to make Nasa and Tsukasa’s outing to the park a rainy one.
Still, this chapter ends with the couple still at the park, so we’ll see what fun is in store for them.
References
I only got the obvious references in Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 55, but if you know others, let me know.
That aside, the ride featuring the haunted mansion from Nerima is clearly a reference to Hayate the Combat Butler. Tama shows up as a statue. I don’t get why his bronze statue would suddenly reveal his skeleton, unless it is supposed to be a scary moment.
In one frame, I’m pretty sure it is Nagi’s portrait on the wall. Later, we get to see the ghost of Klaus, a painting of Himegami in that eye mask, and the ghostly image of Nagi and Hayate dancing in a ballroom. Pretty neat.
The Star Sagittarius ride was clearly a parody of Star Wars. It was kinda funny seeing a guy dressed as George Lucas (in rabbit ears no less) and a girl dressed as young Princess Leia (also in rabbit ears).
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 55 was a rather fun chapter, filled with references and a fun date for Tsukasa and Nasa. With Yanagi-sensei showing up at the end of the chapter, one can only guess at what’s to come.
